The Energy Department's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy has rescheduled the last in a series of three live webinars on our Fiscal Year 2016 budget request. It will now be presented on Thursday, March 12, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. Deputy Assistant Secretary for Renewable Power Doug Hollett will lead the presentation of our budget proposal for the renewable power sector with technology office directors providing in-depth presentations on the solar, geothermal, and wind and water technology office requests.  The webinar will also provide an opportunity for participants to ask questions.

March 18: Live Webinar on Buildings of the Future

The Energy Department and our Pacific Northwest National Laboratory will present a live webinar titled "Buildings of the Future: The Role of Nature in our Built Environment" on Wednesday, March 18, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The webinar will feature the Energy Department's Pat Phelan and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory's Nora Wang. Guest speakers include Mary Ann Lazarus and Thomas Knittel of HOK and Chris Garvin of Terrapin Bright Green to discuss how natural systems and place-based building design can create sustainable and resilient buildings across the United States and globally. The panelists will discuss how these strategies can inform the future of buildings and cities and share their perspectives on how an ecosystem approach can be integrated into the urban environment.

March 18:  Live Webinar on Building America Research Tools

The Energy Department will present a live webinar titled "Building America Research Tools: Field Test Best Practices, National Residential Efficiency Measures Database, and BEopt" on Wednesday, March 18, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) staff will provide an overview of Field Test Best Practices, a web-based tool for field experiments and long-term monitoring of residential building systems. This overview will include content structure, demonstrate key features, and introduce a new discussion forum. NREL staff will also present the National Residential Efficiency Measures Database, a centralized resource of residential building retrofit measures and costs for the U.S. building industry.  Additionally, the BEopt (Building Energy Optimization) tool will also be discussed, including opportunities for builders to improve their home designs by finding the best efficiency measures for their climate and budget.
